Scandic, as the name suggests, are a Scandinavian hotel brand. Helsinki actually has 2 Scandic hotels in the city centre. They offer a range of stylish, chic rooms at affordable prices, in city centre locations.
Rooms
Rooms are large, bright and modern. I stayed in Helsinki during July, which meant that it was light until around 11.30pm. If you want to sleep before then, blackout blinds are available. Rooms come with an ensuite bathroom, minibar, WiFi, toiletries, desk, phone, safe, wardrobe and lots of storage space. Beds were comfortable and there are many charging outlets for your devices. The WiFi speed did vary, so I would recommend getting an eSIM. The premium rooms have a few additional toiletries, as well as complimentary tea and coffee. Daily room cleaning is available.

The hotel
Maintaining Finnish style, there is a sauna in the basement. Towels are lockers are provided. There is also a gym, as well as a large restaurant which serves a buffet breakfast with a variety of options (including breakfast fish, as you are in Finland after all.) There is also a lounge area, and reception is staffed 24 hours a day, and staff speak fluent English. See my other hotel reviews here.
If you take the elevators to level -2, you can walk through to a shopping centre, which is handy during the winter months. Central station is close-by, as is the main shopping district. The port area is a little further, but still walkable. See what tours you can do here.
Directly outside the hotel is a square, which has an area for reflection and relaxation. If you walk a little further downhill, you will pass some shops and restaurants, then arrive at Central Station. To the right of the hotel is a tram stop.
How to get here
To travel to or from Helsinki Airport, simply take the metro to central station. Shops within the airport will advise on which ticket is best. It takes around 25 minutes, and there is no need to change trains. Central station also has a range of shops, cafes and toilets.
